A Community Coming Together
The event brought together many partners under one roof. Alongside Wavemaker, attendees met teams from the local fire service, financial advice organisations such as Money Matters, and NHS staff providing free blood pressure and heart rate checks, as well as advice on home monitoring. To add to the community spirit, a local choir performed during the day. Attendance was strong, and engagement levels showed how valuable these opportunities are for the community.
Supporting Digital Inclusion
Wavemaker’s role was to help residents build confidence with digital tools, particularly the NHS app. Many people are keen to use digital healthcare services but can find the process challenging. We worked one-to-one with attendees, whether they were brand new to the app or simply looking to unlock additional features. These conversations also allowed us to showcase our wider DigitAll platform and introduce residents to our bursary scheme, which supports continued digital learning.
A Moment That Stood Out
One example from the day was supporting Margaret, a long-term NHS app user who had struggled to access her medical records. By sitting with her and walking through the steps, we were able to resolve the issue. For Margaret, this wasn’t just a quick fix - it was an important step toward managing her health more independently. This moment reinforced how digital inclusion can provide people with confidence and control over their health.
Closing the Gap
Events like this demonstrate the importance of bridging the digital divide in healthcare. With the right guidance, people can feel empowered to manage their health information and access the services they need.
At Wavemaker, we remain committed to making digital inclusion accessible to all - one conversation at a time.
